The North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District (ISD 622) serves our community across seven cities, with seven elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools, an online high school, early childhood centers, a learning center, a transition program and a senior center. Our district is known for strong student outcomes, dedicated teachers and staff, a wide range of educational opportunities, and deep community support. Like many districts, ISD 622 is working with a tight budget and responsibly managing every dollar. For a long time, we have done more with less funding than our peers, but now we have reached a critical turning point.
On Tuesday, November 3, the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District will ask voters to consider a $800 per pupil operating levy to support day-to-day school operations, including protecting class sizes, supporting essential student programs, retaining high-quality teachers and support staff, and maintaining critical security systems.

The reason is simple: our funding has not kept up. The district has absorbed more than $15 million in budget cuts over the past three years, which has meant fewer resources for students and growing pressure on class sizes. ISD 622 also receives less local operating revenue per student than any of its neighboring districts, which limits what we can offer compared to communities around us. It is time to invest in our students and our community.
